Sustainability and Responsibility

Our actions today will determine the world we live in tomorrow. Here, we transparently share our initiatives, projects, and actions dedicated to sustainability and responsibility.

Our philosophy

At Vincent Sheppard, we are committed to creating beautiful, high-quality furniture that not only enhances the beauty of your living space but also contributes to a sustainable future.

From the beginning, we have been dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and ensure that our products are both ethical and sustainable.

Long-lasting designs

Our goal is to create products that endure the test of time and provide enjoyment for many years.

We define long-lasting design as a combination of resilient materials, timeless aesthetics, innovative technologies, and flexible features.

As an example, our Lloyd loom furniture can be repainted, nearly all our cushions feature removable fabric covers, and our modular systems allow customers to add or remove elements from their lounge sets as needed.

These design elements ensure that our products remain relevant and valuable for years to come.

Responsible production

To minimize our ecological footprint, we believe it’s crucial to consider every phase of a product’s lifecycle.

During the design process, not only the selection of the material but also its application is considered responsibly. For example, we extract the maximum size out of a ceramic sheet for our table tops and our own teak cut-offs are used for the creation of our teak lanterns.

We are convinced that our responsibility goes further than the product itself. Using ecological cleaning products, recycling and cleaning of waste water are standard procedures at Vincent Sheppard.

Furthermore, innovative technologies such as solar-powered led modules and quick dry foam enhance the design, quality, and longevity of our products.

These advancements often bring novel solutions that positively impact our production process, making it more responsible and sustainable

Our philosophy is to design Vincent Sheppard products with longevity in mind, ensuring customers can enjoy them for years to come.

Service

We show our commitment to sustainability by offering in-house repaint services for our Lloyd loom furniture at our headquarters, breathing new life into our products.

In addition, we have a services webshop where we offer replacement glides for our chairs as well as maintenance products and specifically developed paints to touch-up damage to your furniture.

This way, we hope to enable consumers to repair their furniture thus minimizing waste, saving resources, lovering carbon footprint and promoting a circular economy.

Certifications and audits

FSC

In 2013, Vincent Sheppard received the FSC®-label by the Forest Stewardship Council: a symbol of environmental, social and economic sustainability. Ask for our FSC products.

SMETA

DNV-GL: SMETA audits Vincent Sheppard to ensure that the employees in our supply chain are working under safe and healthy conditions. Our commitment to this auditing standard means that we strictly forbid any form of child labor and ensure that all wages comply with local legislation.

Indonesian legal wood

We source our teakwood from certified forests that adhere to the SVLK (Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu) certification scheme, Indonesia’s timber legality assurance system. This guarantees that our teakwood is responsibly forested, preserving the natural environment and preventing deforestation.

FLEGT

Our teak products are crafted from FLEGT-licensed wood sourced from Indonesia. These licenses guarantee that our timber is legally harvested, adheres to trade and export regulations, and meets all required tax obligations. With FLEGT certification, our teak products fully comply with the EU Timber Regulation, ensuring sustainability and legality in every piece we offer.

Engagement

Vincent Sheppard is a proud supporter of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

These goals inspire us to pursue sustainable and responsible development and combat global warming.

As a manufacturer, we recognize our responsibility to support this mission and lead the charge towards more responsible production practices.

Along with our partners and suppliers, we are committed to working with SDGs 3, 8 and 12, which is where our business can make the biggest difference to people and the environment.

Good health and well-being

Vincent Sheppard recognizes the importance of SDG goal 3, which is to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. By fostering a healthy work environment, Vincent Sheppard promotes healthy habits and encourages their employees to prioritize their well-being.

Decent work and economic growth

We are committed to creating job opportunities that offer fair wages, equal opportunities, and safe working conditions, thus contributing to the SDG 8’s goal of promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work for all.

Responsible consumption and production

At Vincent Sheppard, we are very keen on organising our company with an ecological mindset. We are very conscious about the consumption of resources and take end-to-end responsibility for our waste chain. Recycling, cleaning of wastewater and use of ecological cleansing products are standard procedures. Our headquarters are nearly selfsustainable as we use solar energy to provide electricity for our production process.

An ongoing journey

We are pleased to report the progress we have made in our sustainability journey to date. However, we also recognise that there is still much to be done. We are transparent about the fact that our efforts are not yet perfect, given the challenging and complex nature of achieving sustainability. Nevertheless, we are dedicated to ongoing improvement, exploring new methods, materials and technologies to enhance our sustainability practices over time.
